Farm Profile

Established in 1996 with the gift of a purebred Arabian mare,
Catrin Arabians is the realization of a long time dream of owner
Kathi McDonald to breed and show purebred Arabian horses.
However it was not until 2004 and the purchase of the stud's
foundation sire, Marbling Niyazon, that Kathi and husband
Glenn McDonald really set off on their journey to breed beautiful
Arabian horses built to ride!

Situated on an historic 80 acre property, Catrin Arabians is a small
stud producing quality Arabians in a beautiful rural setting. The stud
was established with the aim to breed beautiful and functional Arabians
that are built to be ridden. We prize the attributes of Arabian type,
substance and tractable temperaments. Our horses are successful in
the halter and performance show rings, and are also fantastic friends
and companions with that "in your tent" temperament!

Having started with a strong Crabbet foundation the stud has gradually
evolved to include Egyptian and El Shaklan bloodlines as well as the
blood of the ethereal broodmare, Naadirah (imp UK). A birthday gift of
an equestrian magazine as a teenager included a stud advertisement for a
stallion who was to ignite Kathi's interest in Arabians. This stallion was
Mahabi El Shaklan (exp Saudi Arabia) and as fate would have it years later
a beautiful granddaughter was procured when the exotic Aivu daughter,
Aaisfa, joined the broodmare band in 2005. After a visit to Hawley
Arabians in 2004 Kathi was to become entranced by Tanya Hawley's lovely mares, vowing to one day procure a Hawley bred mare for her stud. This
dream was finally realised with the 2008 arrival of the beautiful Nahlia
(Nazzai x Nahlanah), carrying an amazing 6 crosses to Hawley's foundation
mare, Naadirah. With stud sire Marbling Niyazon (M. Star of the East x
M. Neri), who also carries lines to Naadirah through her son, Naasser, the
stage is set for Kathi and Glenn to pursue their dream of breeding
beautiful and functional purebred Arabians.

The stud boasts a stable complex with undercover wash and vet bay and
stalls with access to small day yards. We also have planned a safe and
secure round yard for training as well as a 60m x 20m dressage arena.
Shady stallion and show horse paddocks, foaling paddocks close to the
house and large broodmare and hay paddocks complete the property.

Catrin Arabians is located 10km east of the town of Katanning in
Western Australia's Great Southern region. We are approximately a
3 hour drive from the capital city of Perth, and an hour and a half from
the regional centre of Albany on the scenic South Coast.

With some of the Great Southern's wonderful wineries and the majestic
scenery of the Stirling Ranges only an hours drive away, why not make
a weekend of it and indulge in wine, food, stunning scenery and beautiful
Arabian horses.
