March 2012

Wow! What a show the 2012 All Arabian turned out to be for us!  We had an amazing start to the show year, heading up to Perth with Niyazon to compete in hand and under saddle. Niyazon just blew us away with his results, especially under saddle! Our show started with the WA Bred classes where Niyazon won the stallion class and was then awarded Champion WA Bred Stallion - a great start! Next across to the indoor arena where he again won his stallion class, and was then awarded Champion Stallion and to top the morning off, Supreme Champion Senior Purebred Arabian! Yay! Then on to the ridden classes where he worked calmly and quietly showing some lovely expressive paces and getting all his canter leads right (something we have been working on at home!)! He went on to win both his ridden stallion and height classes, and was then named Champion Arabian Hack!  Due to placing in both his halter and ridden classes, Niyazon qualified for the Ultimate Arabian class - an invitational class where the horses are judged both in hand and under saddle by both the international and eastern states judges! He was very tired by this stage so we weren’t really expecting much - he worked well again, doing all asked of him, although obviously tired, with his transitions a little messy and dropping out of canter once, but picking it back up straight away when asked. Once the ridden workouts are complete horses are then stripped and judged in hand - Niyazon looked good and worked out nicely - then the big wait! We were totally blown away when he was announced the 2012 Ultimate Purebred Arabian! What a fantastic end to a super weekend for us!  A massive thank you to Anthony Geyteman of Vision Show Training in NSW for showing Niyazon so beautifully in hand for us, and to Jane Bayliss for riding him perfectly in his saddle classes - he wouldn’t have got there without you both!  Also big thanks to everyone who cheered for him all day, and for the numerous congratulations we received afterwards - it means so much to us - thank you!

Niyazon has now had a couple of days rest and is back in work, getting ready for the Trilogy Show and our local dressage competition, both in May.
